Let's get rid of the haters first: 🇮🇱
Can't read Hebrew? Many of these have translations in the photo description.
Often literal rather than true translations.
(Maybe in the future there will be more here)
What is this?
I am an Israeli citizen who is fascinated about living in these historical times.
If you're not from here, this is both about the war but also about the judicial reform that preceded it. Look it up on Wikipedia if you haven't heard of it yet.
Israel is going through a historical level internal turmoil...
I'm fascinated at the way the immutable streets are changed in historical times.
Mostly graffiti and signs. And graffiti battles where opposing sides communicate through text.
And thus the Urban Signs of the Times album was born.
I'm also fascinated at how people passionately express themselves at protests. They could have just picked up a ready made sign, but they worked on their own, because they NEED to express themselves.
Sometimes creatively, sometimes badly, both interesting in their own ways.
(In case you didn't know: Protests of historical levels, since Jan 2023, weekly+)
And thus the Protest Signs of the Times album was born.
Note: I try to avoid focusing on individuals without consent, and I don't upload too many crowd shots because they're all the same.
In fact, as a leftist myself, anti fascist and pro 2-state solution, I've met intelligent leftists abroad who haven't heard of key things here just because without the right keywords they couldn't.
If you're one, use this opportunity. Part of my target audience is my equivalents abroad.
Looking it up will probably get you into a crazy rabbit hole and a different type of frustrated. 5/5 recommended.
If you're hanging out with the anti-Israeli crowd you may find the flag above or the abundance of them in protests deterring. But if you're not a hater yourself, think of it this way: We're reclaiming it to mean better things.
The state of Israel and Zionism, both, originally declared inclusiveness, pluralism and secularity. I want the flag to mean that. Eventually.
